Lifeguards at a California Beach captured a 6-foot shark with their bare hands, KABC reports.The injured shark was caught near Balboa Pier in Newport Beach. Video from KABC shows the shark in shallow water. Five lifeguards approached it, caught it by its tail and dragged it onto the beach. Animal control officers later euthanized it.Swimmers were ordered out of the water prior to the capture.According to KABC, this was one of two incidents where small thresher sharks came ashore. In the other one, which was in nearby Corona del Mar, the shark was towed back out to sea. In both cases, the sharks were injured and close to death, the lifeguards said.
