'I feel violated': Thieves break into home, steal ashes of 82-year-old woman's husband
An 82-year-old woman said she planned to always be with her husband.Inside her home she has an empty gold urn -- what's missing is the identical one that contains her late husband's ashes.According to WCBS, someone broke into Bernice Immordino's home and stole items, including the urn.She explained her children had instructions to bury the couple together.“I thought we’d spend our lives together. Now, I don’t even have his remains to spend these last years, so that’s so upsetting,” Immordino told the news outlet.Immordino said when she came home one afternoon she found many of her valuables gone.The thief or thieves got in from a back window and took what they could, WCBS reports."I feel violated," Immordino said.Police said they believe the thieves thought the urn, which was inside a box, contained jewelry.This week would have been the couple's 64th wedding anniversary.“My husband was a very special, kind, intelligent man,” Immordino said.She now has cameras and security alarms inside her home.Immordino hopes her husband's ashes will be returned."You don’t have to bring it to the house here. You can take it and leave it at a church or someplace where it would be returned to me,” she said.
